Kalanamak Rice is an exquisite indigenous scented Rice variety, which derives it’s name from Kala (attributed to the black colour of the paddy) & Namak (attributed to the saline soil where this paddy best grows). When Budha visited Kapilavastu for the first time after attaining nirvana, he gave this rice as Prasad to the villagers. This rice is Diabetic Friendly, given it’s low Glycemic Index.
